Fractora RadiofrequencySkin Tightening in Boston

As an experienced Boston facial plastic surgeon and skin care provider, Dr. Min S. Ahn has treated many men and women who are self-conscious of aged or sun-damaged skin. Two solutions he and registered nurses Rebecca Hoffey, RN, BSN, CNOR, RNFA, and Rachel McCarthy, RN, BSN, recommend are Fractora and Morpheus, innovative treatments that combine the benefits of fractional skin resurfacing and radiofrequency energy to produce firmer, younger-looking skin. Patients love Fractora and Morpheus because they can effectively yet gently treat various facial and body areas, and produce noticeable results with no downtime and few side effects.

More About Radiofrequency Skin Tightening with Fractora and Morpheus

Both use microscopic pins to fractionally ablate or remove dead and dull skin cells on the outer layers of the skin. The pins also deliver radiofrequency energy to the tissues directly underneath the skin. The heat triggers the production of fresh collagen, a protein responsible for the skin’s firm and elastic quality. Morpheus is able to penetrate slightly deeper than Fractora.

Results are best seen up to six months after treatment as the body produces new collagen. Both can be used to treat areas of the face including the upper and lower eyelids, forehead and brows, cheeks, lower face, area around the mouth, and the neck. Because they only treat a fraction of the skin at a time, the surrounding skin is left untouched, leading to a smoother and faster recovery.

What Fractora and Morpheus Treat

Dr. Ahn and his team can perform Fractora and Morpheus skin tightening to accomplish the following:

  • Tighten loose skin
  • Smooth wrinkled skin
  • Improve texture and pore size
  • Improve acne scarring
  • Even out pigmentation

They can be performed on their own or to complement other skin and anti-aging procedures (e.g., facelift, dermal fillers). The doctor and his team carefully evaluate each patient’s skin type and needs to develop the details of their treatment plans so they achieve their cosmetic goals.

Procedure Details

Prior to treatment, the targeted area will be numbed using a topical anesthetic to ensure the patient’s full comfort. If you have more sensitive skin, Dr. Ahn and his team may recommend alternatives (e.g., Pronox (mixture of laughing gas and oxygen).).

Once the skin is properly numbed, the handheld device will be used to create tiny sites of collagen formation on the skin and heat up the underlying tissues. Patients may feel a prickling sensation during treatment.

What to Expect After Treatment

Treatment with Fractora and Morpheus requires very little downtime. Most patients are able to resume most normal activities within 1-3 days after their session and may experience some redness and peeling of the skin. Patients will need to apply a healing ointment followed by a bland moisturizer during the first few days after treatment. Light mineral makeup 48 hours after treatment is allowed. For best results, Dr. Ahn may recommend scheduling 1-2 sessions.
